Sure they could. But there was no arguing with Jade on something like this. Deep deep down she knew that letting the trolls drown, even if she wasn't very fond of most of them, wouldn't really sit well with her either. In the end they were all from the same world with information that could be relevant and helpful to answering questions they all had. And, well, letting people drown in general was just cruel.

"Calm down, Jade. Panicking will only make the situation worst. The last thing we need is for you to fly into a building while you're flailing uselessly in the sky and end up drowning yourself." she paused, glancing toward the village again, "I'll make my way there eventually, you do what you can to get in contact him. Splitting up will make it easier to cover more ground. My dreamberry will be on if you need me."

"To you as well." is all she says before she takes off in one direction, heading for the outskirts of the city for now and stopping only when necessary.

[Terezi is laying on her stomach on the edge of the roof, her hand hanging off the side and into the water.]

[ after making his own post, Gamzee's still sitting on his roof in the starter village, watching the rain come down around him. the water's rising but he doesn't seem to mind. in fact, he's laughing, clapping his hands together.

though of course, he prays in thanks for these miracles to the mirthless messiahs. that's an obligation. ]

[ After they split up, Rose was the one with the glorious task of finding Gamzee in the flood. While she had heard the conversation via Dreamberry with the strange alien Juggalo, she sort of wished she hadn't. Either way, he was fairly easy to find once she made it back to the village, and she hopped down onto the roof to join him. ]

Hello. Are you ready to get off this roof, or should I give you a few more minutes to pray to the rain gods? We have all the time in the world for that.

[ blinks at her voice and stares like he's just realizing that she's there. which he is. ]

Wooaaahh, where'd the motherfuck did you come from?

[Oh man, what is this? You'd think, living in the middle of a desert, things like this wouldn't happen.]

[But it clearly is happening, and Kanaya had heeded the warnings, had gotten everything ready to evacuate and retreat ahead of the rising waters... but then Gamzee had gone missing. And she's pretty sure he can swim, but he's also an idiot, and she's not going to just leave him behind.]

[So instead of being somewhere safe, she's sitting in a tree, bedraggled and soaked and miserable and not a little scared.]

[ Rose had somehow managed to get Gamzee and his high-as-a-kite self to safety atop the safe point in the city. Now she had backtracked into the village once again, helping whomever was in dire need and eventually coming upon the familiar troll in the trees just as she was about to take her leave.

Still using her magic she moved to hover in front of Kanaya, her feet just barely grazing over the branch. ]

Hello, Kanaya. Do you need assistance?

[Well, this is certainly not how she would have wanted their second meeting to go. However, even while soaking wet and trapped in a tree, Kanaya somehow manages to act dignified.]

[Getting on the roof while you're blind is not an easy feat. Part of the reason why Sollux did not in fact make it to his roof. He was smart enough to get out of his hive before it flooded and trapped him in there but he couldn't find a way to climb to his roof. He knew he couldn't swim either though so he didn't stick around to keep trying as the water rose.

He used a tree for a substitute climbing as high as he could up into it all the while silently cursing his lack of psionics. If he had those still maybe he wouldn't be soaked to the bone in a tree right now. He'd get wet from the rain anyways but he still wouldn't be in the water. God is he hoping Jade gets here soon.]
