When Harry had stolen him from his birthday party, Draco's first question had been 'why'. Naturally, it wouldn't have been like Harry to actually reply or tell him what he had planned; it was all about the surprise. Exactly what would have happened if Draco didn't like surprises was up in the air, but time had gradually eased him into the idea of trusting people slightly more than usual, into the idea of allowing them the control he usually kept so firmly upon himself and his reality.
He had met the squeeze of his hand with one of his own, telling himself all the while that nothing Harry could possibly plan would ever have a shot of going wrong; if it did, he would have said so. Therefore, there was absolutely no reason not to believe in him. After all, he was the bloody saviour of the wizarding world, and if that didn't inspire confidence, nothing would.
"Despite, perhaps, better judgement," Draco started, returning the smile half-warily as they reached the rooftop, and his eyes fell upon the broom, "Yes. I do."
The grin on Harry's face only broadened at Draco's words. It seemed a good mark on their otherwise odd relationship that Draco did put trust into the green-eyed wizard. They'd been rivals for so long that any mark of friendship seemed like a precious gift given to both young men.
The smile stayed on his face as he walked towards the broom and with his free hand picked it up and swung a leg over. "Get on." He let go of Draco's hand then. It was giving Draco the choice Harry knew he'd want, still some semblance of control though Harry hoped Draco would comply with his own wishes. He'd taken the time to set everything up perfectly and he hoped it wouldn't be wasted.
Down below the sounds of the party continued to drift up to the pair on the roof. It was the other half of the question, whether Draco would fly off with Harry, or return to his own party, drinks, and mingling.
Even when there had been nothing but disdain between the pair of them, it would have been hard to say if Draco hated Harry exactly as much as he always said he did; after all, it had been the blond who, at age 11, offered his hand in friendship to the Boy Who Lived, been promptly rejected, and then continued to go out of his way to tease, annoy, and bother the Gryffindor Trio for the next six years. It was perhaps a bit difficult to tell exactly what Draco felt on the matter, even now, when he'd warmed up more than enough towards Harry - they were dating, after all; not exactly the end he would have imagined - but he was certainly allowing himself some leeway on the matter

The smile on Harry's face softened as he caught that look. It was almost as if Harry were asking Draco to give a part of himself up, and perhaps that really was what it was. He didn't want Draco to lose himself, because then who would he be if not Draco Malfoy? Still this was a new adventure in both their lives and Harry was never one to hesitate
