Phase: New Moon.
Weather: Everything is dark and stormy as an evil wind picks up from the nort-actually, no, that's a lie. Surprisingly, even though it's the New Moon, nothing seems "suspicious" this week. In fact the only bad thing about the weather would be the dry, desert heat that's seeping through town. Whatever wind is coming through doesn't help much, either. While there are a few cool breezes, they are a brief and never long lasting. Also very few clouds around. Electricity bills will probably go up with all the air-conditioning. Better hope your unit doesn't break! By the end of the "week" (that is, around Sunday), temperatures will hit an all time high of 100 °F! Otherwise, it will stay around the high-90s, with evenings cooling down only to high-70s. For anyone who ventures out into the desert, the heat will be even worse.

A recent cave in has revealed a secret passage in the ruins just outside the city in the desert! We need more volunteers to help with the excavation, and it looks like there are some monsters prowling around here. We leave at NOON on SATURDAY, MAY 28. It will be a two day trip, so we should return that SUNDAY NIGHT. If you're interested, just REPLY to this message with "Y". Further directions will be sent to those who respond. This is a completely open and free invitation! If you change your mind, please contact us through this message.
The sender is named "Dr. Teri N. Gihm" though no one will recognize it. If a character chooses to accept, they will immediately receive the following:
Thanks for joining the team! We meet at the LARGE BLACK STATUE in the DESERT at around 10:00AM SATURDAY, MAY 28. We'll be there overnight, so bring any gear and supplies you may need! Pack light.
If you change your mind, REPLY to this message."
Any attempts to illicit further responses or other information will prove futile.
- Who is Dr. Teri N. Gihm? No one important. But she will be making NPC appearances throughout the actual event post.
- Ruin exploration?? We haven't had one of these in a while, and it's high time we've introduced more information. If you're wondering how the past scattered pieces come into play, this event will help tie a lot of them together. If you're also wondering "Ruins? What ruins? When did they appear!?", they appeared during the AU event last month! A few characters have already made some expeditions out there, but this will be the first mod-run/gamewide event involving the ruins.
- Optional! This is probably the most optional event we've had in a while. Characters are free to ignore the message completely, and even be oblivious to it if you so choose. There will be no negative effects or any other side effects from this event. This isn't so much an "effect" based event as optional action oriented.
- So what's down there? Glorious images and a wealth of information! ...Okay, maybe not that much, but it will definitely make a lot more things clearer-or provide more questions. That tends to happen, too. There will also be some particular artifacts. More specific details will be provided once the post goes up.
- Monsters. Also, as mentioned in the message, there will be an assortment of monsters and creatures lurking both within and outside the ruins. Before the expedition heads off, anyone who tries to visit the ruins will find a large influx of monsters gathered around it. It is possible for characters to do some of their own free exploring outside the main expedition, but they won't be able to access the secret passage. It is a secret for a reason! Regardless, the group will be able to make it through and be able to visit the areas.
Characters are also free to join the group just to kill monsters if they so wish. They can join for whatever reason, really. Including hunting for...
- Treasure? There will be some interesting standard fare ruin-y artifacts lying around, but don't expect a treasure keep in this expedition. So, sorry treasure hunters! You might turn up empty handed, but hey. It's all part of the adventure, right?

- Dreamberries. They will be completely functional within the ruins, so characters can still interact with one another and see broadcasts made from both within the ruins and in the city.
- Post? What post? To make things a little bit more organized, there will be a specified event post that will be put up Saturday mid-afternoon with specific threads that will help detail specific parts. For example, one thread will be for anyone fighting off the monsters, another for actual random boring traveling through the passageways, and another designated specifically for rooms with details on what characters will find.
If you're curious how time will work considering that this will last until Sunday, we're going to wait and see how filled the current post will get. If we see it getting super full, we'll make a Sunday post. However, if it doesn't look too hectic, we will make a "SUNDAY" thread within that same post at around midnight. Previous threads will of course be allowed to continue.
- Wait, this Saturday!? What about people going to the con! Unfortunately, we don't keep up with the con calendar, so this was pretty much horrible coincidental timing. If anyone who is going to the con and is afraid they won't be able to participate, fear not! This will be one, very huge involved post, and backtagging/time paradoxing will be allowed.
Depending on how things we go, we may actually put up another post for people to reconvene and regather information.
- Sign-up! Know your character(s) would be interested? Reply to this post with the list! There is no official sign-up or anything, and this is really just for you guys in case you want to make a little party or plot something alongside this expedition. It's a little short notice, but this event isn't really that involved. Even if you don't sign-up, characters are still free to just randomly appear and join in!
