❖ MOON CYCLE 60 ❂ 04/06/11 - 04/12/11
Phase: One-half waxing. The moon's glow brightens with each passing night, but it seems to have a strange tinge of faded yellow to it.

Weather: Pleasant weather continues with temperatures hovering between mid-70s and high-70s °F. The weather may even give characters a strange "spring" in their step.

Legend:
☀ - Sunny/Clear | ☁ ☀ - Sunny but cloudy | ☁ - Overcast | ≈ - Windy | ☂ - Rainy | ☂☂ - Stormy | + any other combination

Effects: Not much, though some characters may feel either oddly cheerful or nostalgic.

Notes: Some more subtle, but very interesting changes in the Somarium setting this week.

  • Stuck in an old movie? Where did all the vibrant colors go? No, that's not your eyesight going bad! For some reason, everything seems sepia toned no matter what time of day it is. Even the evenings and nights will seem more like a black and white movie. Some characters may even think they see strange "static" every now and then. Note: As a quick clarification, colors are still visible, but they have been greatly muted and some will have been replaced all together by the sepia tone. There are no bright or vibrant colors to be found anywhere. Just imagine you're watching an old-time movie, or reading a faded picture book/newspaper, and that's essentially what everything will look like.

  • Gradual assimilation. Characters will notice that the NPCs don't seem to mind the gradual changes. In fact, they seem to be melding right into it. More and more of them can be found wearing the 1920s fashion that was introduced last week, and by the end of the week it wouldn't be surprising if the whole NPC populace completely adopted the fashion. But that's not all. More 1920-featured objects can be found around. No longer modern, only classic cars will be cruising through those streets. Even the appliances are starting to morph to look more like their older, and sometimes original, counterpart. By the end of the week, Somarium will really look like it came right out of the 1920s.

  • Vintage Card Image Changes. As some players may have guessed, the cards and this whole setting is linked to the upcoming 1920s AU event that will occur near the end of the month. We will have another plotting post for the incoming characters so they will have an opportunity to join in on the fun, but for now, new players will want to at least read up on it and start forming some ideas. (Also, feel free to use it in the meantime, so current players may want to check on it!)

That said, here's the reason why for the brief AU recap. This week, the cards are going to reflect your character's AU self. But wait! There's a slight catch. It's still early in the process, and some players may still not know what they want their character to be. So to make things interesting, the card will alternate between potential images. For instance, the image may have your character portrayed as a gangster for a period of time, and then the next time the character looks at it, they're a bartender or street sweeper. The image can even change while the character is looking at them.

The only stipulations about the image is that the character must be in 1920s fashion, that the image is static, and that it is only the character reflected on the card.

But have fun with it! Even if you already know what your character will be, the image will still change to something random. Think of it like the world trying to decide what the character will be.

Just one quick reminder: characters should not know there's an AU event coming up, at least not immediately. They may wonder and think that they'll end up looking like the image reflected in the card, but they should have no reason to believe or think that they will actually become that AU persona. Unless, of course, they can come up with some logical reasoning for it. There have been a lot of events where they found themselves stuck in costumes, but there has only been one AU event that occurred last year and the events leading up to that event was quite different from this one.
