Bad news from the doctor

Dec 05, 2006 15:52

I was sick for pretty much all of last month, but I miraculously got better in the middle of last week after seeing the doctor on the 27th and getting some antibiotics. Since getting better happened pretty much right after I started taking them, I assumed the antibiotics cured my ostensible strep throat infection and the strep screen + mono blot ( Read more... )

Holy carp! It's a good thing I turned down that round of snowballing after you scruffled up on my goods last week.

Seriously, though, that fucking sucks. I can't believe how insane your immune system is, that you have mono and didn't realize it.

It's a blessing and a curse. I still can't go party and womanize and shit, even though I feel fine. It's much more depressing when you are sick and want to do stuff than when you are sick and want to stay in bed.

If you can't womanize and shit, manize and vomit.

I've had mono... it was actually around this time of year! except I was in high school, and I got it from one of two girls on my Water Polo team that had it.

just remember one thing with mono- if you need rest, get it. you won't get better unless your body gets the rest it needs. it sounds like you are taking good care of yourself, so I'm sure that you'll get better some time soon.

The fatigue thing isn't hitting me too hard. I have been taking it easy though, so I hope you are right and the doctor clears me in a few weeks.

I think you'll be ok.

If you think about it... the older you get (especially in your twenties), the stronger your immune system is. Perhaps if you got this in High School it would have really thrown you down.

When I got mono, I didn't know I had it. I was just tired and sick for a long time. The only thing that did suck was that I got Epstein Bar, which threw me for a loop about a year after I got mono. Apparently, Epstein Bar is the thing some people are left with after having mono... and you can only get Epstein Bar if you had mono. I think that the Epstein Bar flare up was a lot worse for me then mono, and I have to be careful and make sure I never spread myself too thin to be sure I don't have a flare up.

I just can't kiss them on the mouth, kisses in other places are fair game.

Let's just hope you don't have 4 relapses over the course of the next year and a half like I did!

I'd cry. I would be at work, and lie down on the floor and start crying. Then I would fall asleep on the floor.
