Guitar balanced lazily over one shoulder, Connie rounded the corner to see a figure in black in crisp contrast to the sanguine light encompassing all things. She was rooting around like she was looking for something, and Lord knew these kids needed as much good company as they could get.
"Oy!" she called down the hall as she approached in long strides, fixing the other woman with a glittering smile. Connie stood motionless for a moment waiting for her companions to catch up, surveying the lady's severe expression and how it did little justice to such cute, petite lips and nose. A familiar sensation tugged at the bottom of Connie's stomach, and the grin curled higher, prompting her to dredge up some semblance of manners in the presence of a lady who would obviously demand them.
"You look like someone who knows what she wants," Connie purred, allowing the comment to hang for a moment before continuing and resolving that the slip could surely be remedied later. "Somethin' I can help you find, Miss?"
Catching up, Adobe caught just the tail end of what Connie was saying to a new person, only to realize as she rounded the corner that the new person was actually some one she knew. It'd been quite some time since that day in the base when Ares had healed her, but the gesture meant it was a face she'd never forget.
Then again, that wasn't exactly a difficult task in a city inhabited by less then 30 people.
Trying to ignore that Connie had turned up the charm considerably with her tone (what was up with that, anyway?), Adobe managed a soft smile to the woman along with a polite nod.
"This is a surprise, Ares. What brings you to the hospital? Sounds like Connie's already offered to help you find whatever it is. Also, you haven't by any chance seen some kids wandering around, have you? We were heading to their room, but I have a feeling a few might be up and about already."
Sam brought up the rear in the small party, looking around at the surroundings as they went. It was clear there was nothing unusual about this hospital aside from its condition. He wondered what kind of supplies had been liberated from it, and what others may still be hidden inside. This was the kind of place that definitely needed to be catalogued, for the sake of the continued survival of the city's residents.
For a fleeting instant, the woman that stood in front of him had closely resembled his mother-in-law. With that recognition, his face lit up. But as he opened his mouth to speak, suddenly the illusion disappeared. His mouth closed, and he looked down at the floor for a moment. You idiot, he reprimanded himself. Of course she wouldn't be here. There's no way she'd fall victim to whatever it was that got me here. One hand moved from holding his bag in front of himself to clutching the other wrist

Ares turned when she heard steps from one end of the hall and watched the colorful woman walking towards her. She had the walk of a fighter. It was not the way one trained in classical combat would move, it was more the posture of one who had learned from skirmishes in back alleys. Self-taught, like Ares herself, but with more of a strut that belied a deep self-assurance. The combination of the confidence with which the woman carried herself, and her suggestive tone made Ares tense

"So you know the lovely lady, Miss Adobe?" she asked with a wry grin, eyes still focused on their newest companion. Though the woman looked in no mood to share the title, and a severe dislike of current surroundings seemed to emanate from her. "Pity you kept it from me. Oh, and you must be talkin' bout little Miss Ahime, ma'am. I wouldn't be too hard on the kid. She just bounced back from an awful scrape with one o'them maneaters running around out there
