I'd thought it all sounded a bit too familiar to merely be a coincidence.
He even introduced himself as Roderick and spoke of her. I cannot believe I didn't put it together any sooner.
What's happening is astonishingly familiar to a story I once read. Perhaps some of you have read it, as well. The Fall of the House of Usher, by Edgar Allan Poe.

We didn't even need a trip to the library to jog your memory completely.
I'd say it's too similar as well, but no idea how we can keep the Tower from collapsing upon itself if that's where it's supposed to lead.

What worries me, aside from the obvious, is the Rift's alteration of him or the story itself. The Rift would change anything that falls through it, including a dead man and its story.
