Yeah, raid0 loses everything when one drive blows, but it's good for speed or something, right? That's what's important, that these things be speedy. If you can recommend something different, I'll tell my boss about it.
RAID0 is indeed very fast. Its all I ever will run on a gaming rig these days (currently dual 74gb 10krpm WD Raptors). AV (audio/video) scratch disks need more than just sheer size and a raid0 array. Substained throughput coupled with breakneck access time is what gets you your best performance. RAID0 can help with the substained throughput but will never decrease sector access time. For the best performance, use 15k SAS (serial attached SCSI) drives. 147gb will only run you a cool $650... but if you get 4 of them in a RAID0, you'd have 588gb.
Goddamnit, you STILLLLLLLLL don't have the ability to check your voicemail? How many years has it been? You need to get on that. It can't be all that complicated.
Sorry, I can't make it. I wish I could, but I've got a seminar that night that runs until like, 10:30-11pm, and the next day, too. I'll think happy birthday thoughts, though!
