Storage for herbs

Aug 18, 2008 11:38

So, I'm slowly building up a collection of herbs to use for spellwork and such, and I'm wondering if anyone has creative ways of storing them. Just throwing all the little bags in a shoebox or something doesn't feel appropriate.

I can think of a couple of things. I found a really nifty spice rack at the local thrift store. It had glass bottles with cork stoppers and it works so well. If you have the money, one of the spice chests with all of the drawers would also be nice (I want one so bad). Maybe even a jewelry box. You might have to come up with little somethings to put them into to separate them in the jewelry box, but a craft store might have something along those lines. The craft store might even have some of those little boxes that look like trunks that you can decorate yourself to store them in. Sorry, your question has given me oodles of ideas!!!

I hated it when I was at that point too. Eventually, I got myself a permanent Altar though, in the form of an antique desk. There's room enough in the drawers to keep everything.

I could not make a decent alfredo if my life depended on it, so I save the jars for herbs, incense, and charcoal, but they're a little big. They clank around if i put them in drawers, so I label them and keep them on my bookshelves.

Canning jars, put in a cool dark cupboard or pantry.

I tend to buy spice jars, and store them under my altar in a plain old plastic container. If you like creative storage solutions, check out the container store, or sometimes bed bath & beyond has interesting things.
