I never expected to have an aha! moment with visualization, however I'm really not sure if what I am "seeing" is what its supposed to be ( Read more... )

As far as seeing energy, I usually just get a vague tint around whatever it is I'm looking at, but only every great now and again. I have to actively concentrate on seeing to be able to get anything at all. The two exceptions were with an Elder of the Craft and then the other with a friend of mine who was literally radiating anger at the time. My own personal energy has a very interesting blue-green to it.

Now, meditation--the trick that I've found is that it's difficult to objectively witness what you're seeing. For example, I was doing a guided meditation and I was told to just take note of whatever images my subconscious supplied. What I found was that my conscious mind kept trying instead to shape what was there to what I thought should be. You might have an even harder time with this, since you're used to being able to shape what you see and not passively observing.

Just my two cents.

The aha! moment came shortly after posting, and is rather similar to your theory. It may also be that I am so used to very real dream environments, that when I am meditating, the visualization is "sub-par". You are probably right though...

howdy
my HP doesn't "see" she "smells" or that what she calls it. she can't picture an apple but she can smell it. if that makes any sense lol im an artist and a very visual person. when we would do meditations in class and afterwards she would want us to write what we "saw" i would draw what i saw rather than write it out. so maybe your thing isn't being able to see but maybe smell or hear or some other sense. hope that wasn't too confusing.
