I've been having trouble falling asleep in my room lately. I've gone downstairs (especially during thunderstorms, which there have been MANY of in my area lately and there will most likely be more). I've been feeling an intense amount of negativity in that room and I have always had this feeling of being watched in my room when the lights are off ( Read more... )

Do a hammer hallowing in the room. Ask the Gods that you honor to ward and protect this space you are referring to.

The general solution to ridding a room of bad energy is smudging. There are several different kinds of incense and herbs you can use; sage and dragon's blood are really good. I can't think of any more off the top of my head, but a quick search will help you find more suggestions.

Also, when you go out shopping: judging from my own personal experience, I would suggest getting a feel for the incense or herb first before you buy it. For instance, there are several different types of sage used for smudging. Not all of them will be agreeable to you. Just give them a sniff and see how it makes you feel. If you feel more calm, relaxed, or generally happier, try using that.

Hope it all works out. :)

Thanks. That was my original conclusion; sage. Funny because I had been thinking about sage all day today (I've recovered my abalone shell) and then I posted this without thinking of course). I was just searching for others' thoughts. Its appreciated.

I think it would be a good idea to attend to both magical and mundane. For the mundane, google for insomnia tips, and follow their advice-- like making sure you try to fall asleep at/near the same time every day, don't drink caffeine near bedtime, etc. Consider trying herbal preparations to help you sleep (provided they don't interact with any medication), like chamomile tea or kava kava. If mild measures don't work, see your doctor. There are lots of medical causes of insomnia, they shouldn't be ignored in favor of going right for the magic, you know ( ... )

For some reason I just can't sleep in my room if it's completely dark and silent. I get a really creepy feeling, which I don't get when I have lights on. So, I sleep with my TV on, the volume on the lowest setting. Just enough light and sound to put me at ease so I can sleep. You might give something like that a try. Nothing shameful about having a night-light! <3

I agree with the others: there's nothing like a good smudging. Be sure to leave a window open so the energies have somewhere to escape (and so you can breathe if you have a small room!) Also Seconding PinkPolarity about chamomile tea. And of course there's warm milk. Before you sleep, also try to take a nice relaxing bath with some scented bathsalts. Lavender is a good choice. Perhaps put on some soft music, too. Also seconding rearranging your room. Change is always good.

Are you strongly Empathic? If so, this may be a time to learn to recognize other's energies and learn not to internalize them. All the suggestions given thus far are excellent. A good cleansing on a physical and spiritual level generally is very effective. If you need to talk further hit me up.
