The latest incarnation of the Ninja Turtles ... (long entry is long)

My thoughts about this series are so jumbled. There are some things that I love about this new show, some things that I could take or leave, and a few things I really don't like. There's some spoilers, so if you haven't seen the first episode and don't want to know what happens, skip over this one.

I think I'm having more fun reading about everyone's reactions than I am watching the show!

Not my favorite canon, probably not even second if I bothered working it out, but it's enjoyable. If also cringe inducing at points.

AND SOMEONE MAKE THE KRAANG STOP TALKING!!!! Like them much better when fighting. *nod*

Yeah, I'm completely giving it a real chance, even if parts of it really annoy me (April is 16, the anime quirks are weird... um, it's episode three, that's all I got ( ... )

Splinter has mentioned his baby daughter in at least one, if not both, flashbacks he's done so far. Though she seems to be an after thought. There's a rumor floating around that his daughter was actually taken in and raised by Shredder (leading most fans to assume this is the update for Karai.)

And really, his wife getting killed isn't unheard of in kid's stuff. Avatar the last Airbender kept reminding you Katara's mom was killed by the Fire Nation, Lion King killed Mufasa while the audience watched... Other shows and movies did the same. Yeah, it is kinda worse for Splinter that he lost a kid as well as his love, but he's always lost everything before finding the guys. So, for me, it 's like they have a "Stuff Lost" checklist and he just got a box added. He goes on and on about his wife and usually mentions his daughter as almost a last minute after thought. :/

Really? Damn, I must have completely missed that part! It must have been in Part 2 of the premiere, because I missed most of that.

Also, you are right, lots of cartoons have the "dead beloved one" thing going on.
