Anytime you can get paid for doing something you like, its a good thing. I get paid well to DJ weddings. Granted, I hate the music, but its something I somewhat enjoy and the thing I enjoy the most is that I'm working for myself.
being good and successful at something you enjoy is not selling out silly - you're always going to be dedicated, hard-working, creative and talented at anything you put your mind to - those are amazing qualities, not anything to worry about!
