Maybe those of you who like this kind of thing can enlighten me, but, really? Or better yet, maybe I should actually listen to one of these before considering my opinion on the subject cemented...

I knoooow, rite?? This is why I don't like to read stories of a dubious nature to Xpyne, wahaha. She'll be like, "Read me something while I draw! :D" And I'll be like, "....But I don't have anything here that is not porn... D:"

And, I mean, drama CDs totally don't count, because those ARE their voices. I'd listen to Seki and Hoshi read Sanzo/Goku pod fic any day, hohoho. >:DDD

I've sampled a good handful of podfic from two or three different fandoms. Personally, I found the most jarring 'omg I can't finish listening to this' aspect out of all of them was the reader's worse-than-the-dub mispronunciation of character names on a Naruto fic. I mean, most I can live with on account of getting sort of numbed to the mispronunciation while watching the dub. But when she reads 'Naruto' so that it rhymes with 'menudo', just...no ( ... )

Actually, putting it the way you do, definitely wouldn't be able to handle a serious/dramatic/angsty/erotic fic in mp3 form, BUT--possibly a strictly humorous/crackish type fic, purely for amusement's sake, would be acceptable. :D

Yes, just what you said is why I prefer to read something myself, rather than have it read to me--the endless possibilities that become one. And what if I don't quite happen to agree with that "one," you know? :T

Ahh, I'm glad you were happy with yours; even if anyone did want to 'pod' one of my fics, I don't think I could handle it, lol! I'm too much of a control freak over my own projects, and would be super embarrassed, to boot.

Like I mentioned to TJ above, I might be able to listen to a pod fic of something 'gen' or humor, but never something erotic, haha.
