What is this "the sidewalks will be done"? I am jealous of your city's infrastructure. Portland has six -- SIX -- snow plows. For a city of 500,000. I think we probably have that many sanding trucks too. So when we get big snow, it stays... and stays... and stays, because they don't have any way to remove it or get it off the roads, let alone getting it off of sidewalks and such. The roads have not been clear since Saturday.
I can't lie though, I have definitely been enjoying our snow :)
If it makes you feel any better, the last few years the city has cut budgets and so only one sidewalk on each street gets done, so I end up walking on the road much of the time anyway.
Yeeeah. People from the Midwest/East Coast make fun of Portlanders for not being able to handle the snow, but I'd like to see them drive on the unsanded unplowed roads with two foot drifts. We would probably do just fine with the snow if the city had enough equipment to deal with it... but we really, really, really don't because we don't get this much snow more often than every 3-5 years (and THIS much snow not for the past 30 years). So it's pretty much like hanging out in a mountain or tiny village in terms of how well things are being taken care of here; I haven't yet seen a street that's actually been plowed or sanded at all, in 3 straight days of snow. :-P
