I drove through it on the train two years ago. Had a one-hour stop there at 2 a.m. and walked around the station, peering out into the streets. I felt really brave when I stepped out on to one street for literally a split second. As a single woman alone downtown NYC at 2 a.m. Then I ran back in, fleeing back to the train. ;) I'm glad I'm visiting a friend who lives there. I would NOT be brave enough to traverse it alone. It kinda scares me.
It's at least a 14-hour drive, and that's if you have a car. Longer (and more expensive) by bus or train (about 20 hours each). I do not consider it close by any means, and I lived in Ottawa for years and visited Fredericton twice a year by bus. I think NYC is about the same distance!
Aww I wish you were coming closer to me. :*( The closest you'll be is Saratoga which is 5 hours away. :( Sigh. Sure you don't want to visit the Falls on your trip? ;) Cause that's right near me. :D :D
...Oh and as for advice, you should get a NY shirt! :D If I ever end of going I'm so getting one. :D
I don't think we'll make it to the Falls. :( I've been there many times before. :(
I have an 'I <3 NY' shirt my brothers got me when they went a couple of years ago. But I will definitely have to get some other kind of "New Yahk is fah lovahs" shirt, or something...
