I am starting to get annoyed by the assumption that I'm seeing people make about my participation in the content strike. In all fairness to them, they don't know my life of the last month, so let me explain

I decided to write and post tons of fanfic porn instead of striking because I didn't care enough to sacrifice my day's entertainment. So I had a fun day -- hardly overloading LJ's servers, I only made twelve fic posts -- and protested in my own way. I'm surprised no one's yelled at me yet for not showing solidarity, but...
It was... mountie/police officer porn, fictional mercenaries of possibly not quite legal age with d/s overtones porn, fictional mercenaries probably of age with serious BDSM overtones porn, potentially underage for one party girl/girl porn, pretty vanilla guy/guy porn, two soldiers having rushed and rough sex porn, large age gap captain with crazy girl porn, gay lawyer porn with maybe a little roughness, schoolgirls porn, threesome porn with pinning down and bisexuality, and two bits of porn with two quite possibly underage boys.
None of it Harry Potter, but still. :p I think I did okay!
I participated in the strike, but I know, too, that I'm probably never going to leave LJ. I love it! They haven't always made the best decisions, but then I haven't either. :)
And I've always appreciated LJ's openness at admitting and apologizing for their mistakes. That's pretty awesome!
It's a big long story I can explain to you sometime. Basically, the LJ management has been dicks for a while. New people bought LJ recently and they seemed good at first, but they have made some bad PR moves as of late.
thank you so much. To be honest, I've been planning a post explaining my involvement, but I'm afraid it'll be too emo and just-
my flist is making me feel dumb about participating, and finding out that 1) it was co-opted by anti-semitists and 2) that LJ now counts activity by week, not by day. But I don't regret it. It's not's about ads, people. It's about not communicating with customers about important decisions. I don't have any other way to express my anger with this besides posting and striking.
I just feel that there has been a significant division between me and lots of my flisters, and...I don't know. I'm watching TV now, and I'm quite inarticulate.
Yeah, it's strange that we just decided "Hey, good idea!" and then get people jumping down our throats, etc, is just frustrating. *hugs*
Agreed about the division. I don't understand it. I'm open to other ways of making our voices heard, too, and I don't see what's so wrong with trying a few different tactics.
