Wow, a summer TV post!

Aug 18, 2007 17:43

Usually I don't watch TV in the summers. This started back in 2001 when I took a French immersion course in Quebec for 5 weeks, completely cut off from TV, and by the time I got home all the summer TV shows had started - and I am nothing if not loathe to come in on something late. If I do, I do it reluctantly and with much resistance ( Read more... )

I think Joss once said Xena was an inspiration for Buffy! That and Shadowcat. Or I could be imagining things. But I always did say Xena paved the way for kickass-female-types.

She definitely did! That would be awesome if Xena inspired Buffy. :D Shadowcat from the X-Men inspired Buffy too? Cooooool.

Dude, you have to watch the first season of Dexter! I don't know how much the first couple episodes of season two spoil you (I'd imagine quite a lot), but there's no getting around that now.

You're one of the few people not madly in love with Chuck. I will likely be forced to watch the pilot, at least. We'll see.

Reaper is amusing.

There was quite a nice season one recap in 2x01, but I definitely want to check it out still. I like how the dynamic is changing in season two (from what they seemed to do in season one).

I'm in love with the preview for Chuck, but not the execution. It was much better by the end of the episode, though.

I'm enjoying Reaper. NOT what I was expecting though!

See, I watched the preview and thought it looked stupid. So I was surprised when everyone was loving the pilot.

What were you expecting from Reaper? It seemed about what I expected from the previews. A little better, really.

Well, I've heard so much about so many new shows that I think I forgot what Reaper was about (now I remember reading about it). I expected something like Dead Like Me and didn't expect a devil angle. I'm about halfway through it now, and it definitely looks promising.

I think I saw the Chuck preview after hearing SO MUCH buzz about it that I was expecting to love it, and it did seem hilarious. But I think the 10 or so minutes total of serious Alias-type scenes at the beginning pissed me off, because there was no explanation of what the fuck was going on, especially when they kept cutting back to this geeky guy. Even though I knew (from the preview) where it was going, it could have been a lot smoother in the beginning.

Augh, I wish I had cable so I could see the new seasons of Weeds and Dexter (I love the books so much more though, and they should be banned from LJ because he makes killing people sexy). XENA! I MISS XENA THIS MUCH!

Do you have downloading capabilities? I can give you leads on how to download at least a few episodes of those shows...

Ooh, I didn't know there were Dexter books!! What are they like?

Oooh, I would love to download Xena. As long as it's not torrents because I've been having the worst luck with torrents lately.

The Dexter books (Dearly Devoted Dexter, and Darkly Dreaming Dexter, and there's a new one not out yet called Dexter in the Dark) are really good. They're not Grade A Premium Literature, but I think they're delicious.

aha, good to hear good things about Dexter - since I first read about it, I've been wanting to watch it, but haven't been able to catch it yet. Will have to torrent it or check out youtube or something tho, because I have so much love for Michael C Hall!
