I skimmed my flist this afternoon on my break at work, and saw the next stage of Strikethrough shit hit the fan, and I've been reading up on it and posting to news all night.

wait. what? they deleted and purged someone's account with no warning because they decided that one piece of art by that person had... no artistic merit? i can hear the sound of 6A/LJ stepping on its own shit from a couple of continents away.

are we all in fandom trying to reappropriate the word 'porn'? then we should be clear about it. what i think of when i hear 'porn' in a sort of real world, exploitative context is somewhat different from 'porn' in the fannish context.

Exactly. But these posts make excellent points about how the average person isn't going to be able to make a distinction. :(

Thanks for compling all these links! And ugh, I literally just renewed my paid account before all this happened. I mean, I really really don't want to leave LJ, but if it comes down to it, it sucks that I just spent a bunch more money on the site. *grumbles*
