I wasn't planning on posting tonight, but I suddenly feel super giddy, and I'm not sure why. It could be the awesome response I got to my V For Vendetta gibbering. Like threnody, I agree that anyone who sees that movie absolutely has to walk away transformed and awed, and if they don't, I will seriously doubt their sensitivity and awareness of the world

Gangsta rap existed back in 95, but it wasn't mainstream yet. It took another couple years to really hit it big. But I remember my roomie in first year (95/96) was big into the gangsta rap, and it was on Much on a pretty regular basis.

BTW, it's possible that your friend's friend normally only dates goths. So it was his other friend's preferences he was taking into consideration, not yours. :-) Or he's just naive. :-)

That's possible. He shows a general naivity on many progressive issues like this though. God I hope he never reads this, he is an absolute sweetheart, but I think it's more probable that he's assuming that subcultures can't interact more than respecting his friend's boundaries. He's still a tad uncomfortable with the whole queer thing...

If it helps, I keep having brain farts the last few days. It's pretty bad. To the point that today I got something from my landlord and freaked out that I forgot to give them post-dated rent cheques. But no, they'd just given me the lease for next year (starting Sept '06) with all my info filled in and a deadline to return it by mid-June. Which I thought was frankly rude and disrespectful of them. It's like those credit card applications that have all your information already all filled out or something. Why not ASK me if I even WANT to stay another year? Jesus Christ.
