At least you've got hearing loss as an excuse. A few years ago I sat with a dear Aussie friend at a con in TO, and had to just smile and nod because I could not understand a flipping word she was saying and was too embarrassed to say anything about it. *shame*

Also, congrats on pulling off the cute. I... never do. My coat is possibly the ugliest thing known to man. It crackles when I move and is almost to my knees, and the lining is safety orange, which you can see because the hood is made for someone wearing a toque with a giant bobble on top (which I don't, but probably should just to complete the look).

But it's ungodly warm, so it's all good. :D

It's funny you should say that, because yesterday my sister said exactly that- the hood makes me look like a conehead. *laughs*

*grins* Now I wish I could remember what I wrote.

And I get the same problem when I come across some English program on PBS. The accents and the slang are to thick for my stupid American mind to wrap itself around so I just give up. What's really helpful though is if the shows are captioned. They usually catch certain things I myself miss. Then I go, "Ohhh, that's what they meant!!"
