Thank you for your
writing assignments! (From this meme: Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, life experiences etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other. If you want to give me more, do so in the comments!)

shanaqui: "Hmm. I don't know. XD Blog abouuut... your favourite music. :3"
For the longest time my favourite music has been folk, folk/punk, and indie. I used to abhor mainstream music in high school (and when my brothers - ages 16 and 19 - make fun of my musical taste now, I say, "hey, in high school I hated it too, but as you get older you care less!"). In undergrad I discovered I loved to dance to the horrible Britney Spears-type crap music, which led to me downloading it at home and listening to it, which leads me to now shrug and say whatever, it's crap music, but it's catchy! and I like it! But I mostly appreciate what we used to call "alternative" or indie music, and folk & folk/punk rock my socks. Ani DiFranco is my longtime favourite artist, and I've always liked Dar Williams (folk) and Ember Swift (folk/punk) a lot too. That's how I can love Johnny Cash (I mean, who doesn't love Johnny Cash, but...) - early country is very much tied to folk in a lot of ways. So as much as I've detested country music my entire life, old country is actually pretty cool. It's just folk with a twang.
And all that said, I also LOVE hip hop. That baffles many people.

snapdragon76: "If you could be any historical figure, who would you be and why?"
Hum... Nothing specific is coming to mind. In general, any uppity woman in history would be cool. I'd LOVE to be one of those back-in-the-day women posing as men to get the same freedoms and rights and such. THAT would be so cool.

malanai: "What's the greatest thing about being Canadian? ^_^"
BIG question, wow. Hard too. I guess I'd have to say that, on the world stage at least, it's neat that we're (most) like Americans but some of the things I find most distasteful in American culture (gun ownership, war mongering, right-wing nutsos) are tempered here in Canada due to the European/British influence. We're still not nearly as liberal as Europe, but I like that a soft social liberalism is mainstream here, whereas in the U.S. it seems like there are two extremes that wage battle and never find any peace or middle ground. Socially, anyway, liberal Canadians *are* the middle ground.

katayla: "I take the rules of the meme very seriously: blog about your underwear. :D"
Hee! Well, growing up, my mom always bought those ever-practical Granny Panties that everyone always makes fun of, silky, and running from your thigh right up to your waist. So I had a lot of those. In high school I found my favourite style of underwear is bikini (the ones that go straight across your hips in a band, very straight; they cover at least most of your lower tummy and are cut fairly low on your hips but not granny panties; like those 1960s bikini bottoms but thicker). I've also fallen in love with Victoria's Secret underwear recently. That might sound strange, but I'm Canadian and we don't have VS here. Their "Body" underwear is AMAZING. And their cheaper stuff (for that is expensive) is just cute. I was in the U.S. last year for a $2 underwear sale at VS, and I stocked up. Our equivalent store in Canada, La Senza, doesn't have nearly as much selection, but in the last year they've started to get in some VS products (like lip gloss - the minty shine stuff is awesome). So when I go back to the States this year, I am definitely stocking up!
