Christmas Morning

“Mommy! Daddy! Wake up! Wake up!”

Very slowly, Yuri Fujimori blinked open her eyes to gaze blearily at her five year old daughter Megumi, who was tugging at her arm and flashing a blinding grin in her direction.

It was obvious, from the dimples and the mischievous glint in her eyes, that Megumi got that grin from her father, Jiro.

“It’s Christmas, Mom! Dad! Come on, get up!!!!” Megumi tugged harder.

Yuri groaned as she caught a glimpse of the clock, which said it was 6 a.m. “Megumi…Mommy and Daddy are still tired.”

Jiro’s only response to this entire wake-up call was a slightly muffled grunt as he snuggled close against his wife’s back.

“But I wanna open presents!” Megumi whined, her grip on her mother’s arm tightening.

At this, Jiro finally cracked open his eyes and looked over Yuri’s shoulder at their child. “Santa only brings presents to good children. Right now you’re being naughty because you’re not letting your parents get a good rest.”

“Jiro!” Yuri elbowed her husband in the ribs.

Jiro grimaced and rubbed at the spot as he flipped over onto his back. “I was joking,” his tone was grumpy and Yuri nearly rolled her eyes at her beloved’s inability to be a morning person.

Turning her attention back to Megumi, who was pouting cutely at her, which caused her heart to melt immediately.

Yuri sighed. “Give Mommy ten minutes, okay? I need to properly wake your father,” she looked over at Jiro, whose attitude immediately seemed to perk up as soon as he caught the playful look in his wife’s eye.

“Better make that fifteen,” he stated.

“Are you two gonna be all smoochy again?” Megumi wrinkled her nose adorably in disgust and both of her parents laughed.

“Just go ahead into the living room. We’ll be there in a minute,” Waving Megumi off, Yuri watched as their offspring immediately bounded in that direction, practically skipping as she did.

A tired sigh escaped the she-wolf as she rolled onto her back, gazing at the ceiling. “Of course, she’s far too young to realize the reason ‘Mommy’ and ‘Daddy’ are having such a hard time waking up is because they were the ones up all night wrapping presents and putting them under the tree.”

There was a low, rumbling half-growl, half hum at her side and immediately Jiro’s handsome face was looming into her vision as he pinned her against the pillows. “Mmm…playing ‘Santa’ is tough work…now, you were saying something about waking me up properly,” his tone dripped with seduction and he smirked sexily at her.

Draping her arms over his broad shoulders and dragging him down towards her, Yuri’s lips curved into a smirk of her own. “That I did…” she kissed him languidly, delighting in the soft moan that escaped him as his arms curled possessively around her and he pulled her tightly against his leanly muscled body.

“God I love you,” he mumbled when she raked her nails over his bare chest, hissing in pleasure as she did.

Yuri grinned against his lips. “ I love you too. Merry Christmas baby…”

“Oh is this part of my present?”

“One part, yes,”

“ Probably the best part…” he brushed her hair away from her eyes, his expression loving. “Merry Christmas…”

Yuri giggled, and then tugged him back down to her and there was little talking for a while.

They finally rushed into the living room a good twenty-minutes later, tying robes around themselves and Yuri patting down her wild, sleep-mussed (well…to be completely honest, it was more like Jiro-mussed) hair.

Their daughter was waiting impatiently under the brightly decorated Christmas tree, a sight that made them both exchange glances and hold back laughter.

“Sorry, sweetie,” Jiro apologized at seeing Megumi’s perturbed expression. “It was Daddy’s fault…he distracted Mommy.”

Yuri bit at her lip to keep from smirking. “Distracted” was easily the understatement of the year when it came to what Jiro made her. She knelt down next to her daughter. “Did you find all your presents?”

“Mmm,” Megumi’s demeanor brightened considerably the instant gifts were mentioned. “And yours and Daddy’s…look I even put them into a pile for you,” she pointed at a much smaller mountain of gifts than the one that was closest to her.

Yuri gasped. “How thoughtful!” she kissed Megumi on the cheek and then headed over to grab the presents for herself and Jiro.

Together, she and her husband sat on the couch, Megumi looking at them expectantly as they got settled. Jiro finally smiled and gestured at her. “Okay…have at it,”

This immediately resulted in Megumi beginning to tear into the presents.

Shaking her heads and chuckling at their daughter’s antics, Yuri settled back into the couch and began sorting through their presents to each other. “Here’s yours…” she placed a few packages next to Jiro. “Now…which of mine should I open first?”

Jiro gave his wife a loving look as she debated. “Open the smallest one last…that’s the most special.”

She arched an eyebrow in his direction, but nodded, going for the larger presents first.

The living room grew fairly quiet save for Megumi’s excited exclamations after opening each present and the rustle of wrapping paper being discarded.

Finally, she and Jiro were down to their last presents.

“You go first,” she gestured when he gave her a questioning look.

Ripping open the paper, Jiro blinked in surprise at the black, leather box that now sat in his lap. Opening it, he gasped quietly. “Yuri…” he pulled the sterling silver watch out from it’s resting place.

“You like it?” she grinned. “I knew you needed a watch and…” she indicated the bottom, which was engraved. “It’s personalized.”

“For my husband, with love. From your Yuri,” he read, before looking at her.

Her breath caught in her throat at the devoted, thankful look in his eyes. “It’s perfect…I love it,” he leaned over and kissed her tenderly. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” she murmured, lost in the sweetness of his kiss and pulling back reluctantly to address her own present. “Now…what could this be?”

Jiro grinned. “Open it and find out.”

Chuckling, she did, only to have her hand fly to her chest as she gasped in shock at what lay before her.

Now Jiro was the one asking her if she liked her gift, and somehow, she managed to nod.

It was a strand of elegant, sparkling diamonds, and at the center was a glittering pendant shaped like a crescent moon.

“Every Queen deserves diamonds,” Jiro whispered in her ear, reminding her of her title.

He pulled the necklace out and fixed it around her neck. “For my beautiful wife…”

“Oh Jiro, it’s beautiful,” she finally managed to speak, fingers caressing over the jewels.

He kissed the side of her face with a smile. “I’m glad you like it.”

“I love it,” she turned into his arms and brought her hand to his face. “And I love you.”

Smiling warmly, he lowered his head and she met him halfway as they shared a romantic kiss.

Megumi once again grimaced and wrinkled her nose. “Don’t you two ever get tired of doing that?”

Yuri pulled back from Jiro slightly. “Nope…never.”

Her husband chuckled. “And I doubt we ever will.”

Eyebrows arching in a mimic of her parents, Megumi stared at them for a moment longer before returning her attention to her gifts.

Jiro and Yuri just shook their heads, and the Wolfen Queen leaned into her King’s arms, which wrapped around her. “Merry Christmas, Jiro.”

He just smiled and dropped a kiss to her hair. “Merry Christmas…Yuri.”
