So you like Naruto, you say?

Jul 02, 2010 12:08

I don't usually make "useless" posts, but i had an IRL conversation with one of my friends today about Naruto, and it was every bit as embarrassing as i always thought it would be. All their names sound stupid spoken out loud. I couldn't even say "Madara" without it sounding like "Mud'ra." i was like READ 500 YOU FOOL, because he liked naruto for a ( Read more... )

naruto, my brains where did they go?, i can has beta?

LOLLL I can totally relate. I tried explaining Naruto to my friend before, but she was just completely perplexed as to how Naruto and Sasuke's relationship worked and wondered why everyone seemed crazy right off the bat. (She's not into manga like I am, sooo... :P) And I didn't even start delving into talk about all the complexities with the clans and the village hierarchy and the side characters.

But yeah, for me, fandom and RL don't mix. It's sort of sad, ha ha.

See this friend had read Naruto almost as long as I have, since like... we were in high school and the most exciting thing that had happened was the Zabuza arc. so it was mostly ok, and he knows all the dorky background stuff, but he had no fucking clue about my obnoxiously obscure otp.

he also RPs real-person slash, and writes supernatural and CSI slash, and friggin' ships Kankuro/Kiba, i mean holy mother of god.

Yeah i don't really mix them either, but i need an ITA/SHI FLAILING BUDDY IRL.

lol, MANGEKYOU SHARINGAN NO MUGEN TSUKUYOMI say it five times fast! Go go go!

...this is the advantage of having siblings just as hopeless as oneself. I've gotten voicemails in which two happy synchronized voices just scream things like "HEY FOOLISH OLDER SISTER YOU LACK HATREEEED hehe bye Shivi hope you get this in class *click*", so.

ITACHI does not sound stupid out loud. You should try saying it. You should try saying it all night long.

Far be it for me to make fun of others' obscure pairings, but...there are Kiba/Kankuro shippers IRL? I thought they were like manatees, and you know they have to exist but you never figure you'll meet one.

I'm jealous of your cool titles.

They are like manatees. soleil_et_pluie July 3 2010, 00:03:33 UTC
ahahahaha. IT'S TRUE, Itachi does not sound dumb.

...That's probably the cutest thing I've ever heard, them leaving adorable itachi-voicemails. My brother would neeeeeever do that.

God, I had the same reaction. I was like SERIOUSLY?? KANKURO/KIBA?! What is wrong with you?! and he was like SHUT UP I LOVE KIBA, AND THEY'RE CUTE.
and then there was the inevitable ".............weeeelllllllllll i guess i can't blame you seeing as i ship some pretty obscure pairings." and he was like YA THINK?

That is actually fucking hilarious that you should say that, because literally whenever making titles I think, "gotta make them as cool as shivi's titles! u_u if i can just get one that is as cool as hers, i'll be doing good!" etc etc and on it goes.

here we have a wild Kankuro/Kiba shipper in its natural habitat. nthcoincident July 3 2010, 04:34:18 UTC
My siblings regard this show in a more mature fashion than I do, but it doesn't mean they have a sense of humor that's any less lame. Other highlights include the little bro fake-sobbing "I CAN'T HELP IT, I JUST CAN'T, GIVE ME YOUR EYES! THEY'LL LOOK BETTER ON ME I SWEAR!" in public spaces where I'm trying to pretend to be svelte and elegant, gdi >( Little siblings are a must for fandom, though. When the brother went to Japan he bought me a KAKASHI PLUSH KEYCHAIN. If that's not the point of living, WHAT IS?

ofaijsois it's KANKURO I'm creeped by. I mean...Kabuki catman. Are we supposed to be turned on by this.

Aha. Ahahaha. That makes me feel like a STAR. The only title I really like of mine is "Raikiri Daiquiri," and that should tell you something :D

Well, of course your experience with IRL Nartuto discussions has been dissatisfying. You're doing it all wrong! First of all, I agree with Shivi that younger siblings seem to be the key to geekery joy. Both my bff and I rely on ours to feed us plot updates during those (possibly months-long) bouts when we just can't be fucked to actually read the manga. Furthermore, these discussions are not to be had with peers, especially male ones. That will only lead to frustration like them being all ~dismissive~ of your shipping tendencies and you being completely mystified by their interests in general ( ... )

No Mai, "Madara" should not be said. Madara should be indecently wailed with accompanying sound effects.

That's why no one said this name in the last chapter, because those three syllables just send all and sundry into transports of ~joy 8D

I AM NOT SUCCUMBING TO THIS MADARA MADNESS. I WILL NOT PRONOUNCE HIS NAME SO LOVINGLY. Apparently I have problems making old Death-Water not sound stupid, either.
..heheheh Mad Maddie, that works.

That all sounds so cute ;_; ..My younger brother would NEVER discuss naruto with me, though he did read it at one point. Let me paint you a picture: he watches outlaw star, an anime from like 1999.

Okay, you get it... soon! Uh, yes, definitely, do you still have it or do you need me to resend it? YAY GO GO BETA POWERS.

..I WANT TO MEET YOU GUYS IRL. ;_;
