As for where we are...it's a bit difficult to explain, really. You're in a city where many different people from many different worlds get sucked into. Umm...it's different from where you're from, or where I'm from, or where anyone's from. There are deities here too, and they like to do crazy things to the city on certain days called 'Curse Days'...and whenever you're alone a clock ticks nonstop and no one knows what it's really ticking for.
