It's good to go!

The buffet is solid and in pretty good shape.  There are some scratches on the top, and a couple of places where I SWEAR it looks like someone drilled into it but the veneer is in good shape overall.

We'll see how it looks at the end of the process. :-)

If you are going to paint, try filling the scratches instead of sanding them out. It will make a more level top and not risk sanding through the surface.

Yep. One of them is literally just a surface scratch, but I think stainable wood filler is the way to go there.
