Um... wow. Okay. Brilliant piece of writing, but (don't you hate buts?) the image of the Doctor ripping at the skin on his arms pulled me right out of the story. :(

Wow, the Doctor doing self-injury. Interesting take. I had a moment where it didn't work for me, but then, as soon as I read this line--"...when he is done he slips on the long sleeved jumper to hide the wounds on his arms."--my immediate reaction was, "Oh, that's good," and you won me over.

WOW!! There is so much emotion in your writing. "He doesn’t deserve the pedestal she has put him on, he doesn’t deserve her faith in him, and he doesn’t deserve the love that she wants to give him; so he doesn’t let her get too close. Instead he punishes himself by watching her sleep. This is so Nine. Bravo!
