I have one little flower bed where I put soil amendment and tried to keep it clear of weeds. I planted California poppies, which are supposed to be good in poor soil like we have here in Fernley. Nothing. Everything has come up green around us this spring, but not my flowers. Phooey.

I've never had luck with poppies either. No idea why. Maybe rock plants? Those put up with a lot...
