I've been thinking a little about Anna's post about Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron and about Black Widow as "love interest" and the "monster" comment and Disney/Marvel's rather hideous sexism in merchandising and trying to separate out all those bits and pieces into a coherent thought ( Read more... )

I suppose you could say that the scene in the house was reversed from the normal trope in another fashion: Which one of them was half-dressed, and which was fully clothed?

Finally saw the movie. Agree with just about everything you've written.

The most terrible thing, to me, is that Bruce basically has *no* agency throughout the entire movie, but we're *so* conditioned to think man = agency that tons of people manage to read him into a trope that requires him to be the one with agency.

Yeah, exactly. See again all the reviewers who said Black Widow didn't do anything in the first film except stand around and look pretty.
