How the mini-cabinet was built

This is how the mini-cabinet is built, seen almost completed. Some design considerations were driven by using only material I had on hand. There was just enough length in the remaining top-access custom cabinet in the corner (the one the microwave sits on) to do the countertop and shelf here, which was really convenient. And a Very good idea to have something insulating between the stove and refridgerator..

Yes! I'm Glad someone else gets that.. To often I've seen them (stove and fridge) packed side by side in apartments, with nothing between.

Does your fridge open to the workspace? With the hinge on the right, so you're not blocked by the door?
(unlike two of units in the main kitchen here.. :P)

Of course! And if it hadn't, I'd've had them switch the door hinges to the opposite side. (That's actually included as part of installation.) That kind of thing drives me crazy. I had a fridge in another unit that did that, and while it's not why I replaced that refrigerator, it was very much on my mind as a thing when remodelling that kitchen ( ... )
