I think possibly the weirdest milestone was the time I had to take my shirt off during rehearsal (I was playing the bass) and then when the owner of the place walked in I realized I wasn't wearing very much. It was kind of a milestone because that was the first time I had really become oblivious of my surroundings when playing.
(The saddest "milestone" was half a year later, when I married, left the band (which was about to break up anyway, as amateur bands do), and moved to another part of the country. We'll keep in touch, we said, but I haven't seen those guys in over 25 years -- OK, I had a cup of coffee with the drummer once. Sold the bass 15 years ago.)

Yeah, that's a milestone, that counts. You have to get to that point to be able to play well, after all. Achievement unlocked!
