I think it would be fun to talk about stories, but the usual memes are like, "What happens next?" "Tell me about Character A?" Which isn't so much talking about stories as it is writing more of a story. But you know how sometimes you read something and you're like, "I got ___ out of this story, I wonder if that's right?" or "What on earth was ____

i'll play! tell me about your process when you first start a story. how do you get that first paragraph onto the page?

Ooooh, this is an interesting one! =D It varies, and it mostly depends on how the idea for the story came about.

Sometimes when I get an idea for a story, I get a chunk of it right away. Like, it'll start with a line or a scene, which often ends up being the beginning of the fic. Those are usually the fics I end up writing REALLY quickly; the couple-thousand-words ones that I ask somebody to beta really quick and post not too long after I started them. (Zombies Ate Your Idols was like this, and actually, Tie Your Handlebars, though that one obviously ended up taking WAYYYYY longer to write than first anticipated
