I'm excited for the NBC ones and Poe! I'm wondering if NBC isn't hedging their bets by ordering pilots for both 17th Precinct and Grimm--if one doesn't seem to work, maybe the other will? I'm definitely looking forward to next season now.

Very possible! Syfy kind of did that with Alphas and Three Inches. Well, sort of.

the NBC ones (though, yeah I'm hoping they are more different in practice than they sound on paper) and Poe sound the most interesting, but the 17th Percent is the one I'm most excited about at the moment (James and Tricia!)

The two NBC ones and Poe sound BADASS. Particularly since I like the showrunners and the actors. And why so many police!procedurals!with!supernatural/sci-fi! shows, I wonder? Maybe everyone wants the next Lost, but they want the weekly case aspect so the plot doesn't get too encyclopedic?

I bet that's it. Also, maybe they think it will help make the show more accessible for mainstream non-scifi/fantasy viewers? I don't know.

Oh my gosh, I have been a huge fan of Jason Isaacs for years and the idea of him being on my TV every week is... wow. But NBC really does not do well with anything fantastical. And I don't want to get too excited, as I remember a few years ago there was a show about cops and zombies with Ray Stevenson that was going to be on and it never ended up materializing.

Trying not to get too excited...

Huh...Oh yeah. I vaguely remember that Ray Stevenson show now. I'd forgotten all about that. Well, hopefully this one will actually happen. Jason Isaacs! \o/

REM sounds very interesting, as does Poe. I've been thinking for years there should be a tv show about Johnny Depp's character from Sleepy Hollow solving crime, and this is probably as close as it gets.

Sleepy Hollow Detective would make an awesome show. Although, I wonder why they're setting it in Boston instead of Baltimore. I guess maybe they think Boston is more mysterious or something.
