Oh, this is good to know, as I just added it to my iPod last night *g* Though I am still looking for the Neil Gaiman book I like as much as the Neil Gaiman cool author persona

hmmm...to read...

I spent last week listening to Sarah Waters's Fingersmith , which was VERY good but likely as far from the Gaiman novel as possible.

Do you read Clive Barker at all? He's another one of those writers I tend to like more in theory than practice, but Coldheart Canyon is one of my favorite trashy horror/ suspense/ creepy things novels. And I have a fondness for Imajica that I think has a lot to do with it being the most subtle queer Jesus novel possible.

And I think you'd like Caitlin R. Kiernan a lot - she works with Neil sometimes, and is a generally cool trippy sci-fi/ fantasy / horror author/paleontologist/ strange person. She's greygirlbeast here on LJ. Daughter of Hounds is awesome.

Fingersmith...I think that was turned into a movie. I remember seeing a video for it. It's definitely on my to-read list.

I don't think I've ever actually read a Clive Barker novel, but I like trashy horror. Oh, that Imajica sounds interesting. Also, thanks for the rec of Kiernan. Yay, lots of books!

I rec Clive Barker with the understanding that it's always trashy as all hell, even when it PRETENDS to be "real fiction" - he's also a master at making things very subtly queer in slightly subversive way. He also makes some very interesting/ occasionally frustrating plotting choices. You might like?

I think I've seen bits of the Fingersmith miniseries in multi-source femslash vids? Though I assume the movie version glossed over the lesbian porn....
