Right woman = 11 (My version of Hallmark)

It looks like I will be gone in two weeks after all.  I just have to sell this damn mattress and take care of a few other things, and then I am free to leave.  This long drive will be just what the doctor ordered.

In case you have not figured it out, I am single now, and this is for a variety of reasons.  Personal resentment and difficulty adjusting ( Read more... )

Dude - I stumbled across your blog this morning. I've been there (not quite to the degree you describe), and I ultimately found a great woman who treats me all the respect I try to give her. As a guy in a good marriage, I'd say you've got the right attitude. Stick with it. You'll find someone good!

Thank you for your comment. At the moment I am enjoying my freedom from restriction and obligation, and am dating people on a casual basis only.

The truth is, I consider human relationships to largely be a function of Fate and chemistry. Some pairings create a nice effervescence; others are destined to be poison to each other. You cannot blame a lion for devouring a lamb, just as you cannot blame a lamb for wandering to the lion's hunting ground where the grass just happens to be greener.

It doesn't sound like you're asking for too much in a woman, it seems like all your criteria boil down to one thing: don't be an evil dildo from hell. Good luck with everything.

I hate to refer to Dungeons and Dragons, but I almost think that there is some wisdom to be gleaned here:

http://wiki.avlis.org/Alignment

I do believe each of us has an "alignment" of sorts, and not all combinations are compatible. You can look at the descriptions on this page and apply them in interesting ways to the perpetual Mars/Venus, Dionysian/Apollonian mating dance. I know this is getting way out there, but the more I think about it, the more I realize what a complex jigsaw puzzle human compatibility is.

You are right though, but some people simply care more about relationships, others about their ducks being in a row. Add to that each person's unique psyche, for good or ill, and you have a potential powder keg. Bleh!
