I saw this short film for the first time yesterday on my lunch break and then had a sudden urge to vid it that night. I've decided I quite like doing these quick, one-off vidlets like sketches. Don't think, just vid. Don't give yourself time to pick at it or second-guess yourself. Go with your instincts and move on. I'm quite neurotic (understatement) and can think myself out of vidding & self-confidence. So this kind of editing is very cathartic. I'll have to do more of these in between the bigger, planned, months-long vid projects. No-stress vidding ftw! VIDDING IS FUN. wheee!
At first, I was going to make Bill Nighy's character skeezier, with his spending all day watching people (mostly women), and Amanda Palmer's character being like a revenge. A comment about object & gaze, etc., blah blah. But then I liked Bill Nighy too much to go through with it. Anyway, I'm much more pleased with what I did instead. They're both somewhat creepy & sympathetic, which is typical of Neil Gaiman. Funny how things can change like that on your timeline.
