Hey ladies. So, I want a white dress. NO, not a wedding dress, but a white Elizabethan dress. I know, I know, white = evil because it'll get so filthy, right? I'm starting to think that I just don't care and I must have a white dress ( Read more... )

Whack! j/k But seriously, a white dress??? And to think I freak out over my silver satin one! Still, I also know that I'm a clumsy person with multiple bouncy dogs...white just isn't going to happen for me, but you're not me, so you might be able to pull it off. Fabrics: I think a white satin gown would be too wedding-y...I'd go for a damask or even a velvet (though that would probably get dirty even faster!)

I'm looking around for a damask, since it would hide dirt better and yes, look less wedding-y. I wondered if silk taffeta with lots of trim wouldn't be too much like a wedding dress. I'm not a huge velvet person, but maybe... I actually don't have a velvet dress yet!

You could probably do taffeta if you had a bunch of colorful effects on it, like trim, slashing, beads, jewels, etc. I had some QE pics on a previous post of mine to inspire a someday white dress. If you wanted it just white, I'd also recommend a damask, possibly with some kind of awesome cut or sleeve style to make it stand out from what we'd think of as a wedding dress.

I agree, some colorful bling would take away the wedding-ness. I'm hunting for a damask, but doesn't look so good at the moment.
