This follows on from Caught Out, but makes sense enough on its own.

Under any other circumstances, Draco would have loved having Hugo in his home. No sneaking around, no quick fumbles. Everything out in the open, calm and relaxed.

But ever since Ron had caught them in the most compromising of positions, he and Hugo had barely spoken. On the one hand, it thrilled Draco that Hugo had refused his father's ultimatum and kept their relationship alive. But on the other, it tore Draco up to see the man he'd come to care so much about hurting so badly. When Hugo had stepped out of his Floo three weeks earlier, Draco had been so relieved that he hadn’t stopped to think about the consequences. But the strain of not speaking to his father was taking a clear toll on Hugo.

Yet, every time Draco tried to broach the subject, Hugo changed the topic or just shut down completely.

Still amazed that the wards had let him in, Draco raised his hand and knocked on the door. He knew from keeping his wand to the ground that Ron hadn’t been at work much and figured the family home was the best place to find him.

"What do you want?"

Draco tried to ignore the whisky fumes and the way Ron's wand was pointing at his neck, tried to remember the reason he was here to begin with as he cleared his throat and spoke quietly. "To talk about Hugo. Can I come in?"

Ron was either too tired or too drunk to fight, and when he stepped back Draco entered the house, clicking the door closed behind him. "Clearly, not speaking to him is affecting you. And it's affecting him too; he isn’t happy, Ron."

"You can’t make my son happy? There's a surprise!"

Sarcasm didn’t suit Ron's features; it made them ugly and twisted as he spat the words across the hallway. Fighting the urge to snap back at Ron, Draco kept thinking of Hugo and the reason he was there. "I can’t take the place of his father, nor would I ever try to. But this…" Draco paused; he could see the same closed-off look in Ron's eyes that had been clouding Hugo's recently.

Draco needed to shock Ron into listening to him, and there was only one way to do that. "I'm sorry, that you found out the way you did. But I love Hugo."

Ron looked like Draco had thumped him, but at least there was some openness to his expression. Admittedly, he now just looked angry, and Draco took a step back to avoid having his jaw broken. But Ron didn’t say anything, and Draco wondered churlishly if he'd have to do all the talking. "I've come to try and… to try and get you two talking again. I'll do anything to make Hugo happy, and right now that means repairing his relationship with you."

The silence was painful, and Draco wondered if Ron was just too angry, drunk, or both, to see any kind of sense right now. Closing his fingers around the door handle, Draco was debating a quick exit when Ron finally spoke up, a look of cold anger in his eyes and the kind of finality in his voice that Draco hadn’t heard directed at him since his father and the war.

"If you want Hugo and me to speak again, you'll get out of his life for good. You're no good for him, and I want you gone before you break his heart."

Exasperation heavy in his voice, Draco made a conscious effort to use Ron's given name, no matter that weasel tripped off his tongue so much better. "Ron, he left when you gave him that ultimatum-"

"-Which is why you have to carry it out. Either you're gone, Malfoy, or I am."
