Nice update! Lex and Clark are so sweet together. And you've got Jonathan down pat in the flashbacks; it's so typical of him to instantly attack Lex and only later realize that Lex is their best hope of getting Clark back, not to mention never even apologizing when reluctantly calling a truce. (Can you tell I'm not a Jonathan fan?) I'm curious now to see how Lionel will react to Clark's escape....

Oh! Thank you! I'm glad you liked my characterization of Jonathan. I *am* a Jonathan fan, but I do realize he's not perfect, and he has Issues with Lex, so I'm glad to know that I got that part down.

Lionel has a plan. You'll know what soon. :)

you made me actually feel sorry for jonathon and feel angry at him at the same time. well, at least a hell lot more sympathic than on the show:)

and I loved these lines most:

this is soooooo brilliant lex, and again, want me to kill lionel:
"You can't trust anyone, Clark. Not with a secret like that. You can't trust me, or your parents, or anyone. The chance of any of us-hurting you because of your origins is too high for you to trust us." Lex took Clark's hand. "All you can do is have faith. You can't trust that we'll never betray you, but you can have faith in us, that we'll never ever do it on purpose."

this made me want to hug clark so hard:
Clark opened his eyes and smiled shyly. "I-I just-it, the water, feels amazing." His voice was still hoarse, but talking wasn't as painful as it had been.

YAY! :D I'm glad you've enjoyed this part. :) That line of Lex is one of the first lines of the story that I wrote. It played in my head over and over again for days, so I'm really happy that you thought it was brilliant. :D YAY!

I'm working on chapter 6 right now. Hopefully will get it off to beta tonight, so that it can be ready on Wednesday. :D
