This is wonderful. I really wish that in canon Sherlock *had* communicated with John. It makes more sense than *not* communicating with him. Sure would make him less likely to get punched! Give John time to come to grips with it, and not have the shock all at once. I see the need for John to be convincingly grieving at first, but after the first couple of months, if he really trusts John I think he could have told him ( ... )
