That was difficult to read. An entire year of suffering unimaginable pain and death. The Master is one sick puppy. This is an interesting chapter because so much of it is Jack's point of view, Jack's musings on Shane, the event in Sweden, fairies, and why maniacs usually fail--and somehow all of these things relate to each other in some manner. So much of the chapter is awash in imagery and the subtle or perhaps not-so-subtle comparison between the Master and fairy!Ianto. Which would be the lesser of two evils? And Jack has made his choice. This is such a great chapter. I look forward to the (sniff) last one.

It was difficult to write, in some places. It's not just the torture, it's the mind games that really get Jack. For me, it was interesting writing Jack being tortured, because he's admitted he once was a torturer himself. So does he know what's coming? What's he thinking of? I suspect he'd be thinking of his own previous victims, trying to figure out what the Master's doing to him. And some part of him does realise that he's trading one captor for another (when he turns to Ianto), but even knowing the psychological trap he's falling into, he can't bring himself to care.

That's the fun thing about Jack. He knows what he's getting himself into, but... he lets himself fall anyway. And so the consequences of that are even more interesting than if he didn't know what was happening.

That was nice, for the most part anyway. Poor poor Jack. I wonder way ianto won't let anyone else see him.

Thank you! Thus far, Ianto's only interested in Jack, so he won't appear to anyone else. It's like how only Jasmine was able to really see the faeries, but they mostly stayed hidden from everyone else. But the team will meet Ianto in the next part!

[Also, icon love! So eerily appropriate using Hinata for a stalker icon. *cackles*]

It's been fun writing the very different dynamic between them, I have to say. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
