"it's not like we make big judgements like who to hire or who to buy a newspaper from..."
"yeah!"
"...Just little judgements, like thinking that mexican bus-boys should learn to speak goddamn english!"
"right."

Everyones a rittle bit lacist...*sigh*

Nah, it's cool that you're beginning to understand life on the streets.
Maybe now you'll know how hard it was for me, growing up fatherless in Detroit...

I can barely relate to the last paragraph, I am very up to date and comfortable with urban culture. New York was the major building block but even before I was accepted and respected by urban teens. I get names like "Black Rob" at my school because when Im around people like that I act and talk like them. Of course retaining my attitude towards life but by doing things there way in a sense that dont throw me away for being white. But if you ever have any questions I think Im the only one who has very urban black friends that they would hang out with on a normal basis.

this entry reminds me of an onion article, "All black musicians at Walmart filed under 'Urban' section"
Urban has got to be among the dumbest euphemisms for Black people
That said, I'm no hip hop afficiannado but if you wanna learn more then go ahead. the only thing I'd reccomend is, if you have any friends with the chappelle's show dvds, you should ask to borrow them for a week. Sure the show is funny, but the musical guests are surprisingly good, and for the most part they're not generic, A-list brandname guys. Just really good musicians, and a solid showcase of authentic east coast hip hop artists, as far as I know.
