Deja-Bleu (A Spike/Fred Ficlet)

This is a short that I submitted for July's guest character (Fred) prompt at the nekid_spike community. It's rated PG-13 and set post-Not Fade Away, and at some point I hope to write a little sequel to it. After I finish writing another "In Dreams" chapter. Which hopefully will happen before we all grow long beards and die.

Oh yes please continue with it. Spike deserves someone nice like Fred and her being a bit damaged is nothing he can't deal with after having spent decades with Dru (and you could say that the Buffy he "had" was damaged from being brought back from the dead).

Thanks! I think it'll be fun choosing Fred's damage and how she'll react to it. kats_meow created a very touching damaged Fred in her Spike/Fred fic The Ghost and Ms. Burkle. (It's in the first section of the chapter below.)

I love this so much! You've started down a fascinating path that rings true for Spike. He's good with the damaged ones. Sometimes, I think it makes him love them more. Maybe because they need him, or he thinks they do. A chance to get it right, this time, would be irresistible to him. And Fred is so easy to love. (She has been through the mill, hasn't she? I keep forgetting, since she's so sunny.)

Ohhh. Very nice. I love how you wove both Buffy and Dru into this fragile relationship Spike has with Illyria/Fred. Lovely.

Thank you, Snickfic! I'm going to try to write something with Dru and Fred in the same scene pretty soon; they're both such oddballs that I think they'd be fun together. :D
