It's not about whether or not we 'need' those actions. People are driven to action by their beliefs -- by their own personal opinions. When it becomes a strong desire, they may try to fulfill their dreams and band together with those who agree with them. Whether it's purely selfish or a firm belief that it's the right course of action, it's something that can happen. Everyone has their differences, and not everyone will share the same perspective. Just like whether or not Ivona is rotting. It varies from person to person. There is no definite answer.
However, wallowing in what-if's will do nothing. What do you hope to accomplish by wondering if we were in flight? If we crashed because of the terrorists' acts?
