I almost forgot that Sakamichi no Apollon (aka "Kids on the Slope") started on Thursday in Japan. Yesterday I downloaded the premiere episode and watched it with Zack, and I must say...I can already tell I'm going to like this. (Though I had a feeling already; given the fact that it's basically the same team behind Cowboy Bebop.) The animation is ( Read more... )

Good for you. Yes it's weird when a 100% person is a dick.

There was another movie that was all hand drawn recently...trying to recall what it was...I blogged a gif of it off Tumblr (not for you to recall, but that's where I saw it). The motion was so cool and smooth, even just something the size of a gif -- makes a big difference. It looked sorta like Jojo's Bizarre Adventures.

That just really threw me off guard. I'm not used to a 100% person's first thing to me being a blatant insult. :|a But oh, well. You can find assholes almost anywhere, I guess.

I know Apollon wasn't done traditionally, but the level of detail and the care in the direction almost gives it the illusion of being so, doesn't it?

I dunno if I saw the gif you're talking about, but from the description, maybe it's "Redline"? That came out recently and is very Jojo-esque.

Redline sounds right!
I knew I came to the right person!

Haha, I actually want to see Redline because it looks similar to Jojo, so we're on the same page here!

For some reason that opening vid made me want to watch escaflowne again. I think it's probably because my brain requires further Yoko Kanno musics. I'm not complaining :D

It's probably the "characters standing in wind" paired with Yoko Kanno's music, heh. I kinda got Escaflowne vibes when I first saw the opening, too. :D

Looking up the story on Wiki, it's about Jazz music in the '60s. I think you'd like it! Visually, it's lovely, and the soundtrack is great...and the characters seem genuinely interesting. :D

It's already been picked up by Sentai Filmworks! They'll be streaming it on Crunchyroll, and I'm sure once the series is finished they'll put it out on DVD. :D

Chris and I just watched Kids on the Slope on Crunchyroll today. ^_^ I'm liking it so far. This is definitely one where I know I'm going to want the soundtrack. The music is just so awesome, even in just that 1st ep. And the opening is Yuki from Judy & Mary which is extra awesome! :D

Yes! Ah! I haven't listened to Yuki in ages, so the whole thing feels super nostalgic to me, even though it's new. AHHH~ ♥
