Last year wasn't too bad--I somehow managed to read almost 10 more books than I did the previous year, which is good. Still, I could've read more. Let's see how I fair this year!
my problem is that I tend to be able to only re-read the books I already own...not that I mind that. I wouldn't own the books if I didn't like em enough to read em over and over, lol ^_^ but still, its always nice to get new books to sink my bibliophile teeth into.
I literally SCOUR places like Goodwill, garage sales, library sales, clearance sales, etc. for cheap books because while I do love re-reading good books, I always love getting new ones. I always seemed to have good luck with the Goodwill in Port Orchard--I'd usually find at least 1 or 2 books there, and they're 75 cents per paperback (and 1 or 2 dollars for hardcovers). Also, the first things I did when I moved here was sign up for a library card. I was surprised that for a library in East Texas, they had a much bigger selection than the Port Orchard library. >__>;
I did this same thing last year because of you actually. I read 45 books last year with 17 of them being new ones. I was quite proud. I'm doing it again this year because I had so much fun keeping track of it. Although with a baby being born any week now I'm not really predicting to out read myself this year. Although I might since I have a Kindle so I can read while I'm doing those late night feedings.
Wow, that's awesome! Oooh, a Kindle, eh? I've been toying with the idea of getting one, but...I'm torn: On the one hand, the books are cheaper, and you can hold so many in one machine. But on the other, I love physically having books!! So it's a dilemma to me whether or not to get one. ^^;
I was torn over the same thing and I honestly love my Kindle. Some of my favorite books to read though still aren't in digital format so I still get the joy of physically holding those books. But for us, as a military family that moves who knows when and who knows where, the ability to travel with the majority of your books all in one sleek device was too good to pass up.
That's very true! Moving was a big strain on my books--I ended up getting rid of quite a few of them. So I can see the plus side, if you're gonna move around frequently.
