Cables are such a weak link in the chain, it's just lucky that most of the time, the cable is the easiest/cheapest thing to replace. Emma's had to replace the cable for the 1Phone 3G her brother gave her twice already, and he only gave it to her in June.
Yikes, that's bad! I got my phone in... I want to say March? And this is the first time I've had a problem that wasn't standard fare: unprompted reboots, locking up and needing to have the battery dropped, etc.
Freaked me right out, I must say. I was having dread visions of having to wait two weeks for a refurb if I even qualified, and losing all of my program data. I am a whiny baby, I realise, LOL.
Admittedly, I think the first cable was a bit dodgy when we got the phone. And the cable we bought to replace it was a generic one, which died in literally about a week, without rough handling. We were pretty pissed off about that.
Well that just sucks. I'm ordering new data/charging cables from te Deal Extreme website (dx.com). They're less than $2 each, which is ridiculous, but so is everything on that site. And it's usually pretty good stuff, too.
Jay loves browsing there. SO MUCH STUFF OMFG. Heh.
