I came home to OMG GROCERIES tonight, and also something I've been yearning after for a week or two: a deep fryer. Tonight, we're having chicken strips and hash brown patties, because yes, I am going to use my new toy.

Following dinner, I'm going to look up some recipes for good batter so I can make onion rings. Onion rings are the best thing ever

Ooh, onion rings. I like the ones I get from A&W the best.

Will you try to make onion petals or blooming onions with your deep fryer? Those are good too.

Well, any battered onion is good if the spices in the batter are right :)

I do like those A&W rings, and I hadn't thought about blooming onions/petals, but I might! They can't be that hard to make, and my fryer is a 3 litre unit. Plenty of space, I think.
