Being an only does have it's advantages if it's a healthy family. That said, it's got disadvantages, more as the parents age and ultimately it's just you. That scares the beejeebies out of me, actually.

Ha, my brother's in for a shock if he thinks I'm taking responsibility for The Mum again if she becomes truly infirm.

I've done my bit babysitting an adult, thanks.
