I can't sleep, so I've been laying in bed thinking. And, that is rarely a good thing...

So, baseball rant time.

The trade.

Yes the trade. Pudge for Farnsworth.

When Pudge left, he left praising the Tiger Organization up and down, talking about how honored he was to play here and be a part of bring the team to where it is today, yet at the same time, ( Read more... )

I can't sleep either. :/

How much time does he need to adjust? I hate to have to say it, but: what a girl. While this trade wasn't entirely expected, still. He's a young pitcher and was never someone the Yankees wanted long-term because of how unpredictable he can be at times and trades happen. It's part of baseball. It's okay to be upset if you're traded (and understandably so), but being sulky and taking your sweet ass time getting to your new team isn't cool. I've got one Yankee fan on my f-list that misses Kyle terribly, but other than that, I don't believe he is too sorely missed. I don't think anyone is particularly happy he left - just indifferent about it because we know we needed another catcher (and a starting pitcher but...can't win 'em all, I guess). And while Farnsworth really came into his own this season, he's had terrible games in the past and, well. This is NY we're talking about. Fans don't forgive and forget too easily. He's a good athlete and he throws hard and I'm hoping he'll be a great addition to your team ( ... )

Awww, I'm sorry. Insomnia? Not fun.

And seriously. He also released some quote saying something along the lines of "Gee, I hope the guys like me." Couple that with the drama-queen-take-my-sweet-ass time and the fact that he cried (not bc he was traded, but bc of who he was traded to)...he IS like a highschool girl.

I still hope he ends up being a great reliever for us. But seriously. Enough with the dramatics! Grow some balls and get out there and pitch!

PS--I completely agree w/ that sentiment--welcome to the NL, Manny! And yeah, I think he's hit a HR every game Detroits played against Boston. And. His HR...the way he swings the bat, the way he just assumes its a HR and stands there, the way he slowly jogs around the bases...is so flippin annoying!

"Gee, I hope the guys like me." Whaaaaat? Ahahaha. That is so like a girl. Assuming he does well in his first outing (whenever that may be) and makes some friends on the club (which is causing me fits of laughter all over again), I'm waiting for the Sally Field moment to follow: You like me! You really like me!

I absolutely hate Manny, mainly because: He Does This Every Freaking Year. Every year he comes to a certain part of the season and claims he can't play and bitches about wanting to be traded and the fans hate him and boo, but then he does something great and everyone loves him all over again and he's totally stayin' in Boston. Manny being Manny. Sigh. I'm glad he's gone and that I won't have to be too concerned about him anymore. My dad said that there was something on EPSN a few days ago (when Manny was still with Boston) about Manny in the dugout holding up a sign that said: Ramirez for Favre. I can't stand the guy, but really. Come on. That's hilarious.

Haha, those weren't his exact words, of course, but he said that he was worried about not fitting in and hoping that the guys on the team would like him. So. Yeah. It totally just stuck me as the highschool girl wanting all the popular boys to like her. ::sigh::

He pitched the 8th inning today. It was a 1-2-3 inning and he did very well. We lost, but he did pretty good. So, we'll see.

And I really wonder how Joe Torre is gonna handle Manny. And, that sign? Niiiiiice. Really nice. Haha!

I'm just glad that I won't have to see him as much. ;)
